Growing and Care Instructions

Caring for Austrocylindropuntia subulata (Eve’s Needle) is straightforward if you follow a few simple steps:

• Light: Full sun is best for maintaining strong vertical growth and vibrant color. Can tolerate partial shade but may grow slower.

• Soil: Use well-draining cactus or succulent soil. A sandy or gritty mix prevents water retention and root rot.

• Watering: Water moderately during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce watering in fall and winter when growth slows. Let the soil dry completely between waterings.

• Temperature: Thrives in warm climates and can tolerate mild frost. Protect from freezing temperatures below 28°F (-2°C).

• Propagation: Easily propagated through stem cuttings. Allow cuttings to callous for several days before planting in dry, well-draining soil.

Following these care tips ensures your Eve’s Needle cactus thrives and develops its tall, striking form over the years.
